Last week I had the chance to travel to Tampa, U.S.A. I had no expectations regarding the place. Just though that I would enjoy some nice Florida weather. Big error... days were grey and rainy... and quite colder than expected.

So I got to do some wandering here and there which helped me discover nice corners despite the dull weather.

Look at your feet... you might get inspired.

Every time I visit a shore, I face bad weather... and the very last day the sun shines, showing me all its splendor.

The Rivershore...

Yet, the best touring I had the chance to enjoy was indoors. In the conference room there were people from every corner of this beautiful world. So many cultures in just one place. I was amazed and delighted.

Travelling to me is much more than just visiting a new place, a new museum or a new geography. Travelling is about seeking and encountering; and getting lost in the unknown.

Few times I have had the time to visit farewell lands without leaving the room. Feel that poetry is in motion in every word. And  thoughts become cloudy feelings that vanish for instances to re-shape themselves.

Literature has always been an important part of my life. Books were my refugee. So I became a person who pays attention to little things, to tiny details. As a friend would say, you get to see the story within the story. The many layers that are contained in what seems a simple scene.

The last night of work we walked up and down a corridor, stepping slowly into the yellow flowery carpet. The walls were full of mediocre paintings in golden frames. The curtains were of that so-typical-hotel burgundy color. The whole setting was worth little to remember. Too many teenagers around filled the air with noise. The furniture that was being accomodated for the next conference added extra nasty sounds.

Just one little corner with some silence. Could such thing be so difficult to find?

An old gentleman walked slightly bented checking that each conference room was locked. He smiled and kept walking. It seemed as if he had done the same thing for ages. An employee here, another employee there. Was he talking to you? Just a cell phone call?

The world is full of corners. There are hidden spaces to be discovered everywhere... out there and within ourselves. Life may sometimes feel lonely. But in few occassions, you get to travel and discover new corners of your own-self thanks to a beautiful conversation.
